Irena Šupíková obtained her engineer’s degree from University of Chemistry and Technology, Faculty of Environmental Technology, in 1993. In 1994 she started a job in AQUATEST ltd., where she has been working since then. She received her PhD degree in applied engineering science from Technical University of Liberec in 2017.

Irena has been focusing on the areas of hydrochemistry, geochemistry and remediation technologies. In 2017 she has been promoted to head of the department of science and research. Her professional experience entails different projects dealing with remediation technologies focused on in-situ reduction of contaminants using iron nanoparticles. Further, she has managed projects aimed at landfill and mine water remediation including the description of geochemistry processes and geochemistry shaping. Recently, she has focused on projects that aim to research the transport of pesticide, medicine and pharmaceutical drugs to groundwater and drinking water consequently trying to remediate all water resources.

Doc. RNDr. Libor Machala, Ph.D.

Email: libor.machala@upol.cz
Address: Šlechtitelů 11, 783 71 Olomouc
Phone: +420 585 634 959

Doc. Machala focuses on methods of preparation and characterization of compounds with higher oxidation states of iron, such as potassium permanganate, sodium ferrate (IV) or sodium ferrate (V). He also deals with Mössbauer spectroscopy, which allows to easily distinguish and quantify representation of different valence states of iron in solids or frozen solutions. Another directions of his research are nanomaterials based on iron oxides and their applications, especially in biomedicine and catalysis.
